December Reviews

Hey again sorry for my appaling absence but third year uni really sinks its teeth into you! Anyway heres some reviews! :)

L'Oreal Elnett Heat Protection Spray- Could not be happier with this product! It smells fab and leaves your hair smooth and soft. The nozzle allows for an even distribution and a little goes along way. However its promise to fight humidity and last for so long is a little over exaggerated although i believe it does help to maintain a nice effect. Would certainly recommend and can't wait to try the others!

L'Oreal Million Lashes Excess- Must say was rather disappointed with this :( sadly I had gotten my hopes up after loving the volume million lashes first version. Theres nothing inherently wrong with the product just is EXACTLY the same as the other mascara, after promising a less clumpy effect I thought there would be at least a little improvement alas no.  Alright mascara but not the best yet ok for an everyday go to.

Max Factor Face Finity 3 In 1 Foundation- This product is a wonderful idea; Concealer + Primer
+ Foundation it's easy to apply and blends well however doesn't seem to be able to last all day. The effect is pretty matte and i found a shade to match my awkward pale skin pretty easily and if it could only go the distance it would be perfect but after about 6 hours its faded in patches. Never the less its the perfect product for a night out; it photographs well and stays put in hot clubs.

Barry M Gold Glitter- I am a huge fan of the barry m range and love it when they do these glitter effect polishes (nail art post coming soon!) and this one is no exception. It sparkles lovely when it catches the light and add sparkles to a simple nail colour. My only critism is that with any of these glitter effects is that they're pretty difficult to remove.

Garnier Intensive 7 Day Body Oil-Cream- During the winter months my skin suffers very badly with dryness and subsequently redness etc but this product is a miracle worker! It goes on easy and sinks in like a dream and smells not amazing but nice enough. It's made my skin soft and smooth couldn't be happier with this product!

Remember Me?

Helloo all

Sooo sorry about my very rude absence lately but am afraid third year uni i.e. reading, researching and dissertation work are keeping me at bay!

Baby It's Cold Outside...

So it's happening, yep autumn has well and truly arrived. The coats are out and the gloves are well on actually. I've been slowly picking up more knitwear and thicker tights and really loving the autumn winter trends that are emerging but there's something we forget until its too late. COLD AND FLU

dundundunnnn... (dramatic sound effect).

So before it's too late and you wake up sneezing, coughing and spluttering get the aid in.

Boots are currently offering 3 for 2 on the health range and so I took full advantage!

Bring it on germs.

It's been a busy few weeks, i'll update yer on the details later! But at one point I had a lil visit to Primark.

I'll probs go into further detail about some of the items in particular at a later date but i basically got; a navy blouse with embroided neck detail, cream lace dress with black neck tie, grey cable jumper and navy boyfriend coat with pu collar detail a very nice copy of a topshop one (pictured below) for like a quarter of the price! :)

I also picked up eyelash curlers for 2 pound! I don't know about your primark but Liverpool's has got an amazing beauty range.

Summer Lovin

It's summer! So of course it's piddling it down making everyone damp and gloomy. But lets not this awful weather get us down, we need to keep our lips stiff and upper and keep occupied with fun things to do. Here are a few things that i hope you enjoy :)

1) Host your own music festival. Get a group of friends round, get some alcohol in and bang on the tunes.

2) Good old movies. Watch your favourite  films back to back and indulge with some junk food

3) Get creative; make a collage, bake, paint or another kind of hobby. Or do some writing.

4) Be productive; it may sound dull but sorting through your wardrobe or sections of your house will free up space and you can sell unwanted things to make cash to do things when the weather improves!

5) Gaming be it electronic or board.

6) Beauty day, you can learn how to make face and hair masks out of natural ingredients that you can find around your house.

7) Make a den and have an indoor picnic

8) Make plans for when the weather improves or just get in touch with friends.

9) Read

10) Wrap up and take a walk, singing and dancing is optional.

1) Lovely stationary
2) Ankle boots
3) Jacquard trousers
4) Elvive hair oil
5) Rings

I know it's super early but am already looking into  a lovely new stationary set for when I return to my studies! Ankle boots are going to be a big trend for winter and am lusting after these studded ones from new look. Jacquard is another trend thats going to be big next season and topshop have nailed the look. Heard alot about this Elvive hair oil and hope to purchase it for myself soon (watch this space for a review). Rings! am mad on them and hope to invest in some more soon. Hope you all have a lovely weekend :)

Keep your head up, keep your heart strong.

You've just lost your job, failed an all important exam or been dumped an will never love again. Yes life tends throw up these curve balls just to keep us on our toes and make us feel like the worlds against us and we can't go on.

But after you've gone through that crazy little rampage; drinking anything with some sort of percent alcohol, consuming anything in the house that is remotely sweet and/or fattening and spending that last bit of money on an oh so needed bit of retail therapy it's time for decisive action.
Having gone through a few difficult experiences this month i've found out/ done a few things that kinda seem to help.

Firstly- Write down all your problems that need resolving are there any obvious solutions?

Secondly- Talk to a variety of people; friends, family or a partner am not saying winge on about everything that seems to be bugging you in the slightest way but seek a little advise from a few different people. Even if it seems that what they are saying is completely useless and slightly patronising it may lead you to finding a resolution.

Next get googling chances are your disaster isn't unique and someone out there could give you some advise.

Yet take the appropriate action if your feeling unwell don't google because your computer isn't a licensed medic.

Also always remember not to get bogged down and into a rut. Stick with active lifestyle choices- Gentle exercise
Get up early and be productive
Eat well; no not attempting a crazed, repressive diet but also don't be only eating crisp and cake.
Talk! Tell people if you feel down and keep in contact with friends even if you can't see them get the geg off them through email or text, they might be having a bit of crap time too.

And I know it sounds pretentious but calm down, you may feel like the worlds against you but remember there are people in a worse predicament than you.

Annnddd Finally Smile!
Remember all the things that make you happy and stay positive.

Sorry if you hate this post and think it's utterly crap but I hope it can be of some help to someone.

Modernity Vs Archaic

The Kindle Vs The Book

Modern technology has done a lot for society; mobile phones mean we communicate with friends instantly, computers let us get almost everything our hearts desire and talk to people from the other side of the world and scientists have found new ways of combating illnesses that used to be deadly.

However when it comes to something as classic as the book, is there room to improve?

The kindle and other similar electronic reading devices allow us to carry thousands of novels around that weigh less than one hardcover book. You can make notes, highlight and it can read to you. But thats it, convenient yes soulful no. It may sound slightly absurd but there's is no life or spirit or dare i say smell. Yes my complaint with this terrific gizmo is that it doesn't smell.

It may sound bizzare but a few people have agreed real books have a certain allure, be it new or second hand they give off a buzz that the kindle would only give if it was wired wrong.

Yep yer can't beat a good ole book, curled up on the coach in front of a fire, outside under a tree, being read to as a child or reading to a child although the magic mainly comes from the stories we read not the actual book, being able to focus this enchantment on a object full or colour and images certainly adds a little majesty.

Colour B4

G'day after years of dying my hair a mix of dark brown, chocolates and little reds  Mr. Sun decided to bring out random blondes in my hair. I read about colour B4 a hair solution which is supposed to rid of any dye in your hair.

                                         1. Before    2. The Product    3. The Result

Overall I believe the effect was only ok. The smell is awful which would be fine if washed out straight away but sadly it takes a good few washes to get rid off. You can see from the photos there is a slight difference however i believe it only lightened the already lighter parts. I would recommend to someone who has easy, manageable hair of if you've dyed to rid the dye straight away.
